'Carhartt Melody', by Dale Leonheart

Whomever said the pen is mightier than the sword
Must have had a brain like mine
Where bullets ring out in the shape of thoughts, funny
Intruders of mind, disrupters of my dear delusion
(I hold her close to me)

Silly doll, thinking I could outlast outpace outrun
First The beginning was also the end
Only I want a little grace
Pounding pavement pensive pacifying
The lightning of the gin-soaked night
Solely Indiscretion in good fun is still indiscretion
Simply Dear god I’d give you my last smoke
Eyes shut tight against this last violation
I go where I know but I cannot see
I will not idle live and I will not idle die
I cannot rest until you make a mess with me
