'guilt, my maternal instincts', by Sadie Kromm
i visited a
garden,
to pick a
special flower
for my bouquet.
one tiny,
delicate,
wild rose
brought me
to my knees.
the nursery woman
was bewildered,
as we stood among
a patch of blossoms
that were
english,
more proper.
i told her
how your love
felt powerful,
not traditional,
which makes it
ephemeral.
but,
if i could,
i would,
have found you
in nature,
where your kind
actually belongs,
so you, could finish
blooming.
