Moby Pussy (Print Book)

$25.00

The debut collection of short fiction by our own editor DM Rice. With contents taken from Twitter, myth, history, and personal experience, this genre-defying text guarantees to delight and surprise in equal measure. It is a reckoning between tradition and experimentation, and the flagship example of the guiding aesthetic ethos of postmodern classicism, laid down in print for the first time.

In the words of trans author and activist Lou Sullivan, "I wanna look like what I am but I don’t know what someone like me looks like". Rice's stories are an exploration of the self through queer allegories. At times the stories read as those written by an outsider artist and other times, they are able to reinterpret classics like Kafka's "A Hunger Artist” through a trans lens. Their characters work often as mirrors reflecting society's need to reduce our desires as mere depravity, and other times the characters are both "sword and symbol" showing us how we can use that same depravity as our strength. Rice's stories know who they are, and there's not much out there that looks like them.
